MIDNITE |
Walking to get lunch on a rare hot summer day in Seattle. I
saw a man collapse on the sidewalk. A couple of people stopped to help him;
it became apparent that he was having a heart attack.
I watched in sick horror as his life came to a grinding halt. I knew I shouldn't stare. I was fascinated and disgusted. What is it about a city that makes people so unreactive to death? Most people that passed seemed angry that the dying man was blocking their way to the latte stand; they just stepped right over him. But who am I to chastise? I can't even remember how to do CPR . | ||
